Zygomorphic

(Botany) A term that refers to flowers that are symmetric about their center only, usually vertically. Examples of flowers include orchids, such as the one to the right, and gladiolus. Also known as bilateral symmetry. Compare with actinomorphic.

Zygote

The single cell formed by the union of a sperm and egg, or other gametes.
